Enrolment Process

We’re thrilled that you’re considering Halifax Street Children’s Centre and Preschool for your child’s early learning journey. Our enrolment process is simple and designed to provide you with all the information you need to make the best decision for your family.

Required Documentation

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport.
  • Proof of your child’s immunisation status (Immunisation History Statement from Medicare).
  • Emergency contact details for authorised persons.
  • Any medical or health plans relevant to your child.

How to Enrol

Step 1

Submit an Expression of Interest

Complete our Expression of Interest Form below. This form provides us with the basic details about your family’s needs, such as your child’s age and the preferred start date.

Step 2

Attend a Centre Tour

We encourage families to visit our centre to experience our facilities and meet our educators. Book a tour online or contact us directly at +61 8 8223 2240 to arrange a time.

Step 3

Receive an Offer of Placement

Once we receive your expression of interest, we’ll notify you when a suitable spot becomes available. Offers are made based on availability and in line with our enrolment priorities.

Step 4

Confirm Your Place

To secure your child’s place, you’ll need to complete the enrolment forms and provide the required documentation (see below). An enrolment deposit may also apply.

Halifax Street Children’s Centre and Preschool operates in line with strict policies to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and development of every child. Key policies include:

Health and Safety:
We maintain a safe and hygienic environment, with strict illness and exclusion policies to minimise the spread of infection.

Nutrition:
Our centre promotes healthy eating habits and provides nutritious meals and snacks.

Behaviour Guidance:
Positive behaviour management strategies are implemented to support children’s social and emotional development.

Sun Safety:
Sun protection measures are in place, including the provision of hats and sunscreen during outdoor activities.

Allergy Awareness:
We are a nut-free centre and accommodate children with specific dietary requirements or allergies.

ACCESS GUIDELINES

As a child care service which receives CCS payments from the Commonwealth Government, we abide by the priority of access guidelines set by the Department of Family and Community Services. To help us equitably fill vacant places, please tick the appropriate priority boxes below:

Within the main categories above, priority should also be given to the following:
A child care service may require a Priority 3 child to vacate a place to make room for a child with a higher priority. They can only do so if you:
  • are notified when your child first entered care that your service follows this policy.
  • are given at least 14 days notice of the need for your child to vacate.
