Education Programs

Inspiring Lifelong Learners..

At Halifax Street Children’s Centre and Preschool, we believe that every child deserves the best start in life. Our tailored education programs are designed to nurture curiosity, foster creativity, and build confidence at every stage of development. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we focus on providing engaging, play-based learning experiences that prepare children for school and beyond.

Our Programs

Early Years Care

(6 weeks - 2 years)

A Foundation of Love and Security
In our Early Years Care program, we prioritise creating a warm and nurturing environment where your baby feels safe and supported. Through sensory-rich play and responsive caregiving, we build strong foundations for healthy development.
Focus Areas:
  • Establishing secure attachments with caregivers.
  • Sensory exploration to stimulate brain development.
  • Building trust and confidence in new environments.

Toddler Program

(2 - 3 years)

Exploration and Discovery
As toddlers begin to explore the world around them, our program encourages curiosity and independence through structured and unstructured play. Activities are designed to support language development, social skills, and motor coordination.
Focus Areas:
  • Language enrichment and communication skills.
  • Encouraging self-help and independence
  • Cooperative play and early socialisation.

Preschool Program

(3 - 5 years)

Preparing for a Bright Future
Our preschool program (Kindy) provides children with the skills and confidence they need to transition to primary school. With an emphasis on inquiry-based learning, we create opportunities for children to ask questions, solve problems, and explore their interests.
Focus Areas:
  • Literacy and numeracy through play and storytelling.
  • Developing emotional resilience and social skills.
  • Introducing STEM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Specialised Programs and Features

Play-Based Learning

We embrace play as a powerful tool for learning. Through carefully planned activities, children engage in hands-on exploration that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Nature Play

Our outdoor spaces encourage children to connect with nature through gardening, outdoor art, and free play, fostering wonder and environmental responsibility. Our Bush Kindy program and membership with the St Andrew’s Hospital Community Garden, where we grow vegetables, further enrich these experiences.

Multicultural Education

Halifax Street celebrates diversity and incorporates cultural experiences into our daily programs. From multicultural stories to festivals, we foster an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued.

School Readiness

We focus on ensuring that children are emotionally, socially, and academically prepared for their next big step. Our preschool curriculum is aligned with the Australian curriculum, helping children build the skills they need for a smooth transition to primary school.
